Yunlin County has the lowest incidence of violent crime while its crime-solving rate has also spiked, Minister of the Interior Lee Yi-yang (§õ¶h¬v) said yesterday, citing the latest statistics from the Criminal Police Bureau. Lee said the nation's violent crime rate has declined by 9 percent from last year and the crime-solving rate was up 6 percent, while Yunlin County saw a 24 percent decline in violent crime and an 11 percent increase in the resolution rate. The nation's burglary rate has also seen an overall decline of 13 percent, saving the public NT$300 billion. Car theft declined by 31 percent, a drop of 5,690 cases. Yunlin County had the sharpest decline in the theft rate, with motorbike thefts down 45 percent and car thefts down 41 percent compared to last year, Lee said. Four months ago Premier Su Tseng-chang's (Ĭs©÷) promised to make significant improvements in law and order within six months. Lee urged the police to work harder toward achieve Su's objective.
