Vice President Annette Lu (§f¨q½¬) announced yesterday that she will lead the formation of a "blue sky, green land, good Taiwan" alliance next week to work toward the country's political stability.
She said she will also host a forum on how the government can perform its functions optimally, achieve national security and social stability as well as peace of mind.
Lu made the announcement while delivering a speech in Chiayi.
She said the alliance would address issues such as eliminating corruption, improving law and order, reestablishing moral standards, life-long education and educational reform, the enhancement of industrial development, Taiwan's investment environment as well as the internationalization of Taiwan.
Stressing that the pan-blue alliance and pan-green camp must reconcile for the sake of political stability, Lu said the alliance will put forth a seven-point proposal toward that goal.
First, political parties should seek to establish a mechanism for rational consultation and healthy competition, Lu said. Second, the governing party should reform itself to form a clean and efficient administration, she said.
Third, the legislature should approve the nominations for Control Yuan and state public prosecutor general and pass a series of "sunshine bills" as soon as possible, Lu said. Fourth, the legislature should speed up the passage of bills related to national security and people's livelihood, she said.
Fifth, the judicial authorities should maintain their independence and uphold justice, she said.
Sixth, the media should fulfill its social responsibility and be truthful in reporting, she said.
Seven, Taiwan should promote modernization, the rule of law, democratization and "the humanistic spirit" in order to create a friendly and just environment, Lu said.
