The Taipei Prosecutors' Office filed an appeal with the Taiwan High Court again on Wednesday seeking to have the president's son-in-law Chao Chien-ming (趙建銘) returned to detention for his alleged role in a high-profile insider trading case. The prosecutors' office said in its petition that Chao should be held in custody again on the grounds that he was likely to flee the country or collude with other accomplices. The prosecutors' first appeal failed as the Taipei District Court decided on July 20 just to increase the bail for Chao, from the original NT$10 million (US$305,340) to NT$17 million.
