A Malaysian man drowned yesterday at Fulong Beach, where the three-day 2006 Hohaiyan Gungliao Rock Festival was being held. The dead man was identified as a 26-year-old surnamed Yeh, a graduate of National Chengchi University. Officials from the Gungliao Fire Department said they were informed at 8:22am about a drowning. First-aid squad members pulled Yeh and administered CPR for a prolonged period but failed to revive him. Yeh is believed to be one of the roughly 300,000 people who swamped the beach over the weekend for the rock festival, which was scheduled to wrap up yesterday afternoon. No other accidents were reported as of press time.
