Taiwan Quick Take: Chopin contest planned

The 2006 Taipei International Youth Chopin Piano Competition will take place from next Wednesday through Aug. 3 at the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra concert hall in Taichung County, pitting 88 contestants from around the world. The contestants will come from Luxembourg, Austria, Japan, Indonesia, China and Taiwan. The event is sponsored by the Frederic Chopin Foundation of Taipei and the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, and supported by the Cabinet-level Council for Cultural Affairs. Accomplished pianists from Taiwan and abroad serving as judges.
