Taiwan Quick Take: Hospital given cash

The government donated US$15 million to a Costa Rican hospital on Wednesday. The donation will go to the reconstruction of Calderon Guardia hospital in San Jose, one of the most important public medical centers in Costa Rica, which was partially destroyed in a fire a year ago. Ambassador to Costa Rica Wu Tzu-dan (吳子丹) on Wednesday handed the donation to the state Social Insurance Institute, which manages the hospital. The fire in July last year killed 21 people and seriously damaged the facility. The cause of the blaze is still unknown.
