Kaohsiung mayor seeks support for cinema theme park

The Kaohsiung City Government is seeking the central government's support to set up a cinema theme park.

Acting Kaohsiung Mayor Yeh Chu-lan (葉菊蘭), a member of the Democratic Progressive Party, told a city council meeting yesterday that the city government originally planned to ask the central government to set up a national cinema cultural center in Kaohsiung.

However, after the Government Information Office reached a consensus with the Taipei County government in March to make Hsinchuang City the location of the center, she decided to ask that a branch of the center be established in Kaohsiung in the form of a theme park.

She said an ideal location would be picked for the park, probably in an area beside the Love River, or in the Kaohsiung harbor district.
