Monday, Jul 10, 2006, Page 3
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications yesterday rebutted a report in the Chinese-language Apple Daily yesterday that accused Director General of the Institute of Transportation Huang Te-chih (黃德治) of not living in his official residence and offering it to his son instead. In response, the ministry said in a news release yesterday that Huang lives in the residence at least four days a week and only goes home to be with his family on the weekend. According to regulations governing the use of the residence, the house can be shared by the director general and his family, but the director does not have ownership, the ministry added. In addition, the measure of the residence is only 99m2, not 165m2 as suggested by the paper, the ministry said.
