    Tuesday, Jun 27, 2006, Page 3

Taiwan's new deputy representative to the US, Deng Chen-chung (鄧振中), is expected to assume his post in Washington next Monday. Deng served as deputy representative to the WTO for more than four years, beginning in April 2002. His major task in his new post will be working to enhance bilateral business and trade exchanges and cooperation with the US in general, and pushing for the signing of a free-trade agreement in particular. Deng, 53, from Ilan County, is a graduate of Soochow University in Taipei, where he majored in law. He obtained a master's degree in law from George Washington University and is licensed to practice in the Washington area.
