Thursday, Jun 22, 2006, Page 3
Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU) Chairman Shu Chin-chiang (蘇進強) will visit the US and the Dominican Republic later this month, officials from the pro-independence party said yesterday. The officials said Shu would leave next Thursday for New York, where he is scheduled to call on think tanks and attend the inauguration of the TSU's East Coast chapter as well as fundraising dinners before proceeding to the Dominican Republic. TSU legislators will be unable to accompany Shu due to the extraordinary legislative session, which will last until June 30. Shu will be accompanied by party officials. Shu is scheduled to return to Taiwan on July 10, but could cut his visit short if there are any unexpected political developments in Taiwan, the officials said.
