Taiwan Quick Take: Huang attends US forum

    Thursday, Jun 15, 2006, Page 3

Minister of Foreign Affairs James Huang (黃志芳) will attend a private forum in Colorado from today to Sunday, officials from the Taipei representative office in Washington said yesterday. The American Enterprise Institute World Forum, held annually since 1983 by the think tank and the Vail Valley Foundation, will be presided over by former US president Gerald Ford. The officials said that former foreign minister Fredrick Chien (錢復) and Presidential Office Secretary-General Mark Chen (陳唐山) both attended the forum several times during their terms as head of the ministry. Other prominent Taiwanese invited to this year's event include Morris Chang (張忠謀), chairman of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co, and Douglas Hsu (徐旭東), chairman of the Far Eastern Group. Huang will fly to New York for a brief stay after the forum, the officials said.
