Taiwan Quick Take: Air raid drill scheduled

    Tuesday, Jun 13, 2006, Page 3

An air raid drill in central Taiwan will take place on Thursday as part of this year's defense exercise, the Taichung City Reserve Command announced yesterday. A spokesman for the reserve command said the air-raid alarm will be sounded at 2pm on Thursday, with the all-clear signal being given 30 minutes later. During the half-hour exercise, all pedestrians and drivers in the region should follow instructions from the police and military police and move to the basements of private buildings or to designated underground shelters, the spokesman said. Trains and traffic on freeways will not be affected, but passengers who disembark at a station and cars that exit a freeway must also move to the shelters, he said.
