Representatives of 17 economies of the APEC forum, including the US, are attending a two-day APEC seminar titled "Sharing Experience in Managing Fishing Capacity," which started yesterday in Kaohsiung. According to the Fisheries Agency under the Council of Agriculture, the seminar was formed as a result of a proposal by Taiwan in the APEC fishery working group. Taiwan has also won the right to host the event, as it has one of the world's largest tuna fishing fleets. Representatives from the US, Canada, New Zealand and Thailand would present reports on topics concerning development of fishing capacity and the sustainability of fishery resources, agency officials said.
