Taiwan is the fourth-largest source of tourists to the Philippines, according to tallies recently released by Philippine authorities. The Philippine Department of Tourism's statistics showed that Taiwanese paid 23,486 visits to the Philippines in the first two months of this year, accounting for 4.8 percent of total foreign arrivals. Foreign nationals made 491,871 visits to the Philippines in the first two months, up 12.7 percent year on year. Taiwan lagged behind South Korea, the US and Japan in terms of visitor numbers, although it was ahead of China, Hong Kong, Australia and Canada.
