Former president Lee Teng-hui (§õµn½÷) has been discharged from a hospital after being treated for a mild case of tuberculosis, the hospital said yesterday. The 83-year-old Lee returned home on Friday after his health showed clear signs of improvement, the Taipei Veterans General Hospital said. Lee checked into the hospital last month with a fever and flu symptoms, but a medical check showed that he was suffering from tuberculosis. By Friday he was no longer coughing and his fever had gone, and the tuberculosis was no longer infectious, the hospital said in a statement. The statement countered speculation in the media that Lee had spent the last two weeks quarantined at home with a more serious case of the lung disease.
