Taiwan Quick Take: Chen praises Caribbean ally

President Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁) yesterday praised the democratic achievements of diplomatic ally St. Vincent and Grenadines saying that its experience in constitutional re-engineering deserved Taiwan's emulation. "Constitutional reform in St. Vincent and Grenadines was from the bottom up, and the House of Assembly established a constitutional advisory committee, which made proposals for constitutional amendments for the reference of the House of Assembly," Chen said while receiving Louis Straker, deputy prime minister and foreign minister of St. Vincent and Grenadines, at the Presidential Office.
