Taiwan Quick Take: Indictment may be delayed
Tuesday, Apr 18, 2006, Page 3
Prosecutors said yesterday they are in no hurry to indict former Presidential Office deputy secretary-general Chen Che-nan (陳哲男), even though they have strong evidence to charge him with fraud. They said Chen's indictment may be delayed because he is also suspected of involvement in several other major scandals that are being investigated, including stock trading at the Presidential Office and an ownership fight over the Pacific Sogo Department Store. There are also allegations that he used his influence to help Huapan Administration Consultant Co win a contract to manage foreign workers working on a construction project for Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corp.
