Acting Kaohsiung Mayor Yeh Chu-lan (葉菊蘭) is scheduled to lead a delegation of municipal officials to Japan tomorrow for a five-day visit, mainly to enhance bilateral ties and gain a better understanding of Japan's experience in harbor city development, a city government source said yesterday. Topping Yeh's itinerary will be a visit to Hachioji -- a satellite city in the Greater Tokyo area -- for talks at City Hall on a sisterhood ties plan between Kaohsiung and Hachioji. The city is also one of the richest communities in Japan, with many of its residents being professionals with high incomes, according to the source. Yeh and her delegation are also scheduled to visit Yokohama. While in Yokohama, the Kaohsiung officials are expected to pick up clues about the city's urban development, particularly development along the banks of the harbor.
