    Friday, Apr 07, 2006, Page 3

Former Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) chairman Lien Chan (連戰) is scheduled to meet Chinese President Hu Jintao (胡錦濤) on April 16 in Beijing, the KMT said yesterday. Lien will lead a KMT delegation to attend an economic forum with the Chinese Communist Party in Beijing on April 14. KMT Policy Committee Director Tseng Yung-chuan (曾永權) said the former chairman would meet with Hu after the forum. In response to the government's calls for the results of the meeting to be made public, Tseng said that the meeting would be open to the media. According to the KMT, the meeting will be held in the Great Hall of the People, while the forum will be held at a different location. The forum and the meeting are to continue discussions following the Lien-Hu meeting last year, the party said.
