Members of the diplomatic corps said they were impressed by the well-preserved aboriginal cultures in the Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village (九族文化村) and the speedy reconstruction of Fu-Guei Elementary School.

The school was demolished in the earthquake but was rebuilt within one year by the private Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation.
