Independent Legislator Chiu Yi (ªô¼Ý) yesterday filed a defamation lawsuit at the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office against Presidential Office Secretary-General Yu Shyi-kun, who questioned Chiu's credibility after he released information concerning the Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Co (KRTC) scandal.

Chiu requested NT$100 million in compensation from Yu.

Chiu has been making a number of allegations concerning the KRTC case as well as matters concerning the Taiwan Stock Exchange and Financial Supervisory Commission and has attracted lots of media coverage.

Yu yesterday said that maybe just one out of 10 of Chiu's allegations might be correct, while nine are false.

Chiu said Yu's remarks seriously impact his reputation.

Yesterday at a legislative judiciary committee meeting, Chiu also displayed copies of documents from the Presidential Office which indicated that then deputy secretary-general of the Presidential Office Chen Che-nan (³¯õ¨k) embarked on a three-day trip to Vietnam on May 29, 2001. He allegedly discussed the introduction of Vietnamese workers into Taiwan with Vietnamese officials, but the Presidential Office "covered up" the trip.
