Women feel more weary than men, survey finds

Taiwanese regardless of their age, occupation, status, education and working hours are more tired than men, according to a survey released on Saturday.

The survey, jointly conducted by the Institute of Health Policy and Management of National Taiwan University and the Council of Labor Affairs, also found that young employed women, especially those under the age of 45, are the most fatigued group of people, probably because women in this age group have parents and children to care for. Men of this age group are on average more tired than males in other age groups.

Also, the more education women have, and the higher their status at work, the more tired they say they are, according to the survey released at a seminar on public health.

In general, people of either gender who have to work more than 49 hours a week, or have old people or small children to care for at home, are most vulnerable to being fatigued, the author of the survey said.
