The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) will hold its semi-annual national convention tomorrow afternoon in Taipei County to promote the party's candidates for the year-end elections of city mayors and county commissioners and celebrate its 19th anniversary.

This convention will feature the DPP's campaign theme -- "visible progress and construction with hard work," which aims to highlight the DPP's administrative ability and local governments' achievements in a bid to win over voters.
Su will give an opening address to the convention and Chen will give the keynote speech to rally the party around its candidates.
Chen has asked Su to win at least half the commissioner seats in 21 cities and counties in the year-end elections, and is expected to make another demand in his speech tomorrow.

Heat advisories were in effect for nine administrative regions yesterday afternoon as warm southwesterly winds pushed temperatures above 38°C in parts of southern Taiwan, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said. POLICE INVESTIGATING: A man said he quit his job as a nurse at Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital as he had been ‘disgusted’ by the behavior of his colleagues A man yesterday morning wrote online that he had witnessed nurses taking photographs and touching anesthetized patients inappropriately in Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital’s operating theaters.
