Faced with the recent wave of unfavorable news about Lee Chin-chen, the Financial Supervisory Commission threw it's full support behind him, saying that Lee's name will be cleared soon.
"Lee knows that prosecutors and investigators need his help to probe the case, and therefore he cooperated with them to offer the information he has," said Lu Daung-yen (
"I believe this case will be closed soon and Lee's name will be cleared," he said.
Lu refuted Chinese-language media reports that Lee was questioned for nine hours before investigators searched his office on Monday. According to Lee, he was invited to an investigator's office to clarify certain market rumors and the meeting only lasted 90 minutes, Lu said.
Despite the incident, Lee pledged that he will continue to take the initiative to combat financial illegalities as that was what the public expects from him, Lu quoted Lee as saying.
"Lee is a precious talent for the commission," he said.
Lee, 48, joined the prosecutor system in 1983, and took the position as director-general of the examination bureau this January.
He was not available for comment as of press time yesterday.

In a video clip provided by the Coalition of Students Resisting the CCP (Chinese Communist Party), Taiwanese-American Cosette Wu (吳亭樺) and Tibetan-American Tsering Yangchen are seen holding banners that together read:
