Quality Taiwanese fruit hold good prospects in European markets, a Taiwanese businessman based in Germany said on Tuesday.
The businessman, surnamed Lan, said Europe is a vast market and has enormous demand for high-quality farm produce, including fruit.
Lan said that Taiwanese fruit farmers interested in exporting their produce to Europe should focus on exploring the high-end market. Taiwanese fruit traders could first target upmarket restaurants and hotels, as these establishments' chefs were more willing to buy high-quality fruit at high prices, he said.
Lan has sold various types of mushrooms in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
