A Taiwan delegation on a fact-finding visit to Dallas, Texas, on Monday visited the headquarters of Texas Instruments, Inc., a US information technology giant.

The delegation, led by Minister-without-Portfolio Lin Feng-ching (ªL³{¼y), was warmly welcomed, Lin said, noting that the company entertained them with a well-prepared presentation of its state-of-the-art products and efforts in technology development.

Through the presentation, given by five senior and high-ranking executives, the 36-member group received valuable information about possible trends in the world's information technology development, Lin added.

Texas Instruments, which has invested in Taiwan since the 1960s and established a Taiwan branch in 1969, maintains close, cooperative relations with many Taiwanese electronics enterprises including Tatung Electronics Co., Chunghua Telecom Co. and the DBTEL Group. It is listed as one of the foreign high-tech companies with the most operations in Taiwan, according to Lin.

Earlier in the day, the Taiwan delegation went to the city of Richardson, known as a US telecommunication corridor, and visited its city hall. The delegation will head to the headquarters of Nortel Networks Co. and Electronic Data Systems Co. next.
