Joseph Wu visits Washington for Bush inauguration

Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) Chairman Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) arrived in Washington on Monday to attend tomorrow's inauguration of US President George W. Bush for his second term.

Upon his arrival Wu said he would meet with leading figures from various US quarters during his stay in Washington, including congressional leaders, think tank members and other friends, in addition to taking part in activities to celebrate Bush's inauguration.

He said, however, that he had not yet arranged meetings with any administration officials. Taiwan's delegation is being led by Academia Sinica President Lee Yuan-tseh (李遠哲). Other members include Yang Huang Mei-hsin (楊黃美幸), director of the Research and Planning Board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
