The Chinese Television System's (CTS) new weekly news program Global Newsweek will premier tonight at 11pm, providing in-depth reports and analyses on the world.

"This program aims to connect Taiwan with the world," said CTS president Chiang Hsia (¦¿Áø) at a press conference yesterday.

The one-hour news program has been endorsed by Vice Minister of Education Fan Sun-lu (S´Sºñ).

"There hasn't been an in-depth world news analysis program in Taiwan. Through this program, high school and college students may be able to learn about world news," Fan said.

The host of Global Newsweek is Lo Chih-cheng (ùP¬F), executive director of the Institute for National Policy Research and an associate professor of political science at Soochow University.

"I was very impressed when I first worked with CTV's news team, as the people are quality news professionals," Lo said.
