Annette Lu invites businessmen to Latin America

Vice President Annette Lu (呂秀蓮) invited businessmen yesterday to accompany her on a visit to Latin America next spring.

Addressing the 2004 Golden Businessman Awards ceremony and a rally in celebration of Businessmen's Day, organized by the General Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of China, Lu praised businessmen for their contribution to Taiwan's economic development.

The economy enjoyed cumulative growth of 8.05 percent, with exports increasing by 42 percent and foreign exchange reserves doubling over the past four years since President Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁) was first inaugurated, Lu said.

A total of 19 businessmen and representatives of six foreign missions received awards during the ceremony for their outstanding performance in business or contribution to international trade.
