Four men were arrested on suspicion of smuggling narcotics from abroad, manufacturing ecstasy tablets and selling the drugs online and modifying firearms, police said yesterday.

Acting on tips, four teams of agents from the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB), the Coast Guard Administration and the Nantou Police Department raided a pharmaceutical factory in rural Wuku Township in Taipei County on Monday.

Lin Jui-hsiang (林瑞祥) was arrested at the factory and police said they seized 13,000 ecstasy tablets, as well as raw materials and equipment used in the manufacture of narcotics.

Lin Chien-hung (林建宏) was apprehended in an upstairs room of the factory, where investigators reported finding four modified firearms and more than 20 toy guns and gas pistols.

Police later arrested Chen Tsung-wang (陳宗旺) and Li Chih-hua (李志華) on suspicion of drug trafficking. Chen was pick up in Hsintien, Taipei County, while Li was nabbed on Wuxing Street in Taipei City.

According to the CIB, the four were part of a trafficking ring thought to be led by a man named "Tien Ge."
