Delegation to depart for Russia

Kaohsiung County Commissioner Yang Chiu-hsing (·¨¬î¿³), at the head of a southern Taiwan industrial and business delegation, was scheduled to depart yesterday for Russia at the head of a research and business-promotion trip, county government sources said.
Yang and his delegation members, including Tai Chien (À¹Á¾), administrator of the Southern Taiwan Science-based Industrial Park, are also scheduled to visit Sweden and Finland starting Sunday to familiarize themselves with telecommunications and optoelectronics research and development in the two Scandinavian countries, Kaohsiung county government officials said.
During their visits in Russia, Sweden and Finland, Yang and the southern Taiwan delegation will also tout the Southern Taiwan Science-based Industrial Park, soliciting investment in the nation's second "Silicon Valley."
While in Russia, Yang and the group are expected to visit a creation and innovation center of Moscow University and a wireless electronics research institute, as well as take part in a science and technology forum and meet local business and industrial executives for trade talks.
Prior to heading to Stockholm on Sept. 12, the group will visit St. Petersburg, meeting with members of the city's business associations.
While in Stockholm, the group will tour the Kista Industrial Park and the headquarters of Ericsson.
