The Ministry of National Defense will issue the recall to all reserve military personnel to report to their assigned units to participate in the Tunghsin 16th Military Exercise today.
The ministry made the announcements through TV, radio stations and newspapers beginning tomorrow tomorrow until 8am on Monday.
"The order of the recall will become effective from 12pm on Sept. 5 and all the recalled personnel should report to the assigned bases before 8am on Sept. 6," read the statement from the ministry.
According to the ministry, the Tunghsin 16th Military Exercise, which will include reservists nationwide, will take place over a seven-day period.
The ministry said that the focus of the Tunghsin 16th Military Exercise will be making sure that reserve personnel maintain their combat readiness. In addition to personnel, the ministry is also mobilizing heavy vehicles such as 18-wheeler trucks and four-wheel-drive vehicles.
According to the ministry, a recall for the military exercise is regarded as a regular "work-out" for the country's reserve forces, including personnel, vehicles, weapons and a host of other military equipment.
By law, military personnel who finished or retired from military service below the rank of Sergeant are considered reservists until the age of 40, while non-commissioned officers and regular officers can be recalled to duty until the age of 50.
