Tourism Bureau launches campaign featuring A-mei

    CNA, TAIPEI
    Sunday, Aug 29, 2004, Page 4

Taiwan's Tourism Bureau announced yesterday the launch of a "Taiwan tourism bus" featuring singer A-mei (±i´f©f) as the spokeswoman for the country's tourism drive.

Tourism Bureau officials said the popular singer will show up in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia yesterday and today, as well as on Sept. 5, to cut the ribbons for the inauguration of the "Taiwan tourism bus."

They said that the promotion is part of a "2004 Visit Taiwan Year" project to entice more people to come to Taiwan. It is hoped that with the 32-year-old singer's popularity in the three places, more people will be attracted to visit, which will help the bureau realize its goal of doubling the number of tourist arrivals by 2008.

The officials said that A-mei will feature in a promotional film in which she will recommend the island's beautiful landscapes, delicious food and various fun activities.

The tour bus will be designed to attract attention and inside, there will be showings of films to introduce Taiwan's hot springs, beautiful scenery, delicious and exotic food, and its night life.

The films hope to give a hint of the various options for touring Taiwan, and will claim that one visit to Taiwan will not be enough to savor fully its fun, beauty and hospitality.
