Six indicted in Tainan for trying to blackmail Andy

Six people arrested for blackmailing the actor Andy (安迪) with a VCD were indicted yesterday by the Tainan City Prosecutor's Office on charges of blackmail and extortion, as well as offences against privacy.

The six are Tao Tsu-hui (陶自輝) and Pan Ching-tai (潘經泰), Chiu Po-lung (邱柏龍), Lin Yi-hwa (林一華), Tao Chi-huei (陶自輝) and Wen Yi-tung (溫義通).

According to the indictment, Pan was introduced to Andy -- identified in the indictment by his real name, Lin Chin-fu (林進富), through Chiu in 2002.

Pan has reportedly said that he was upset by Andy's behavior, that he didn't like him. He had also heard stories that Andy occasionally used illicit drugs.

Pan reportedly told police that he worked out a plan with Chiu to film Andy and his wife at a party given by a mutual friend at a KTV in Neihu last December.

On Dec. 11, Chiu and Pan en-tered the KTV room where Andy and others were attending the party, and used a hidden camera in a mobile phone to secretly film the proceedings. Lu and Lin were in a nearby room at the KTV, where they ran the recording equipment and monitored the filming.

On the film made by Chiu and Pan Andy appeared to take drugs. Police have said that there was a scene of Andy having sex with a woman who was not his wife.

Andy gained fame last year as a cast member of the controversial Special Report VCD series.
