Responding to an incident in which a Taipei County election worker claimed to have mistakenly taken 95 unused ballots home after the presidential election, Central Election Commission (CEC) Chairman Huang Shih-cheng (¶À¥Û«°) said yesterday that the CEC would look into other possible cases of oversight.
"This is an isolated case which has been processed through legal procedures. However, we encourage the public to tip us off on any other cases of mistakes in the electoral process. The CEC will look closely into them," Huang said at the legislature yesterday.
During a hearing of the Judiciary Committee yesterday, the CEC was invited to conduct a thorough investigation to see if there had been other blunders committed during the election.
CEC Secretary-General Tsai Li-cher (½²ÄR³·) said the CEC was responsible for any mistakes.
"There are more than 10,000 polling stations around the country ... I cannot say that there were no other mistakes on the day of the election, but the CEC will definitely look into cases of executive oversight," Tsai said.
