The nation's youngest university freshman, Liu Han-chung (¼B²[¤¤), 15, seemed a bit camera shy when approached by the media as she headed to her first class at Kaohsiung Medical University yesterday.
Liu declined to be interviewed by reporters who showed up at her school to see how the academic prodigy was faring on her first day at university.
University authorities called for the media to leave Liu alone.
After graduating from Chiayi City's K & J Middle School this summer, Liu passed the Joint College Entrance Examination and entered the university's department of medicine.
School authorities in charge of student affairs said they believe Liu should have no trouble studying, although they said they will pay extra attention to help her avoid make psychological adjustments to deal with the age gap between Liu and her classmates.
