To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, the Taipei County Government will hold a barbecue fair and a pop music concert in Erchung Waterfront Park (
The Taipei County Government will give away barbecue kits to the first 150 groups who sign up between 4pm and 5:30pm in the park. The free kits include a grill, a roast rack, charcoal, a mat and a lottery ticket.
Groups of four to six people are eligible to sign up, and they will be allocated a space to barbecue, said Huang Chun-yao (

"People who do not win the kit are also welcome to barbecue with their own equipment in the park. We hope that everyone can enjoy a beautiful evening together," he said.
Huang said that barbecueing with family or friends has become a popular activity to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in the recent years.
"This year people do not have to sit on the sidewalk or crowd on the balcony with their family for a barbecue, as the Erchung Waterfront Park has a spacious 32 hectares, enough for 10,000 people," Huang said.
The county government will open another 24 waterfront parks in 14 towns in Taipei County for the public to enjoy the festival, he added.
Besides the barbecue, Voice of Taipei and Hit FM radio stations will hold a pop music concert in the park at which Vivian Hsu (徐若瑄), Sweety and S.H.E. will perform.
