Cabinet to toughen piracy laws

LEGAL ACTION Under the proposed law, a certain amount of digital copying would be allowed for personal use, but fines for distributing pirated works would increase

Those who crack the protection code of certain copyrighted products would be subject to civil legal action, while those selling the code-cracking device or providing a code-cracking service would be subject to both civil and criminal legal action.

In addition, those who use pirated computer software for operational purposes would be held civilly responsible if they do it unknowingly and both civilly and criminally responsible if they do it unknowingly.
