The statement came after a reported allegation by Liu Tai-ying (劉泰英), chairman of the China Development Bank, who is under investigation for his possible involvement in the Zanadau embezzlement scandal that Lee had set up secret "chairman bank accounts."
According to the report by a Chinese-language newspaper, investigators were looking into several bank accounts they suspected Liu had used to receive large commissions.
Liu claimed that these accounts were Lee's accounts and that Liu had no connection to them, the report said.
Liu has been accused of accepting kickbacks in arranging loans for the construction of a mall by Zanadau Development Corp in Kaohsiung. He has been in detention since the middle of last month.
The newspaper report said that investigators searched Liu's offices for a second time, seizing floppy disks, handwritten notes and other important evidence.
Liu's house was searched when he was first questioned by investigators, the report said, but no substantial evidence against Liu was discovered.
Investigators also reportedly searched the home and offices of Liu's special assistant, identified only as Lee, and that Lee had been called in for questioning.
