According to the documents, Tsai not only asked THSRC to provide designs of the cable troughs but also brought unidentified figures from certain construction companies to promote a material for the railway's cable pipes.
After THSRC's Monday press conference that indicated Tsai attempted to benefit certain interest groups through selling cable pipe material to the railway's contractor, Tsai accused the corporation of defamation and asked for NT$100 million compensation.
According to THSRC's statement yesterday, the corporation has yet to design the details of the cable troughs.
"Why is Tsai so eager to know the design of the cable troughs? Why did he suggest that THSRC should use a certain material for the cable pipes?" the statement asked.
The statement said the public and the KMT should examine Tsai's motives behind his interest in knowing the design of the cable troughs.
