Mongolian office set to open in Taipei next month

The Mongolian representative office is scheduled to open in Taipei next month, an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.

Lin Chin-hsiung (ĒLĒ÷ļ¯), deputy director of the ministry's Department of Asian Affairs, said Taiwan and Mongolia reached an agreement last September to exchange representative offices. Mongolia sent officials to visit Taiwan in mid-October to look for a suitable location for the office and assigned Dagva Batmunkh as its first representative.

Batmunkh visited Taipei Dec. 25 to prepare for the opening of the office and returned to Mongolia Jan. 10.

Lin said the establishment of the representative offices will help promote bilateral trade, investment and tourism, as well as providing information on education, labor and humanitarian operations.

To promote bilateral trade and investment, Taiwan's representative office in the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator will establish relationships with business circles there and collect business information for potential investors.

Lin said that the ministry will also help Taiwanese businessmen and groups to travel to Mongolia to promote business and take part in trade fairs.
