Booking for domestic flight reservations for the Lunar New Year holiday will open at 8am today -- except for flights to offshore islands which won't open until Dec. 17.
All other domestic flights between Jan. 28 and Feb. 10 can be booked by phone or via the Internet between 6pm and 8pm.
Those going to Penghu, Green Island and Orchid Island will have to wait until Dec. 17 to make their reservations, again during the 6pm to 8pm time slot.
The reservation system for flights to Kinmen and Matsu will open Dec. 19.
A maximum of four tickets can be booked each time.
The reserved tickets must be bought before deadlines set by the individual airlines or else the reservations will be cancelled.
Mandarin Airlines' deadline is 5pm on Dec. 23. TransAsia Airlines' deadline is 5pm on Dec. 20. Tickets to Makung must be bought on Dec. 24 at the latest. Tickets to Kinmen must be bought before 5pm on Dec. 25.
Far Eastern Air Transport tickets must be bought before Dec. 31.
UNI Airways requires people to buy their tickets within a month after making airline reservations.
Those who wish to cancel their reservations must do so at least three days before the flight date.
In addition, the Internet ticketing site ezfly is offering substantial discounts ranging from 20 percent to 30 percent on ticket sales at non-peak hours between five to 60 days before the holidays.
