Lu says China is failing its own people

Vice President Annette Lu (呂秀蓮) yesterday criticized Beijing for failing to fulfill its duty to care for its people by spending money on missiles aimed at Taiwan.

Lu told a group of overseas Chinese that there is no need for Beijing leaders to resolve the so-called "Taiwan problem" because "Taiwan is not a problem, nor does Taiwan have any problem."

"Taiwan will take care of its own problems," Lu said.

"Beijing doesn't need to be bothered taking care of us," she said, mocking frequent remarks made by Chinese leaders who say they would like to "solve the issue of Taiwan."
