Lee Ming-yu in the public eye

Chiu was then a former Cabinet minister and is currently a well-known scholar of international law at the University of Maryland.

"He encouraged me to read more and learn as much as I could," Lee said. "He inspired me on many aspects of my life through his philosophy of life."

Asked if he was interested in entering politics, Lee said it was quite impossible at the moment.

"There have been rumors about my joining the campaign for the Taipei City council at the end of this year. Well, for me, it's not only just a rumor but also a big joke," he said. "To serve the people, a candidate needs to have a well-organized policy which I don't have right now. Currently, my legal business occupies all my time and I just want to make it so I can help people as a lawyer."

In the meantime, Lee said that he wanted to expand. "An international law firm with expertise in international trade-related laws is in my plan," he said.
