Sharing Chen's theme, Lee Shang-ren said that the strategy is particularly important for a fledgling party, because a young political group can only strike a chord among its supporters by clearly voicing its objections.

"A strong will to win is the most important ingredient for success, coming up with effective campaign strategies takes second place. We cannot succumb without even trying to fight," Lee stressed, citing the legislative election last December as an example.

Few expected that the TSU would get any real support when it was founded last August. But the party surprised the public when it grabbed 13 seats in the legislative election last December -- its political debut -- due mainly to the backing of former president Lee.

"Given the experience that we gained from the campaign we fought last time, and given the outstanding performance of our lawmakers at the legislature, the public should not underestimate our potential," said Lee Shang-ren.
