"Police, teachers and pastors are the careers traditionally encouraged by our tribal values because of the values behind these professions are what are in sync with our traditional tribal values," said Pan, who pursued a major in electronic engineering at university.
"Professions related to business management and science and technology are often a rare concept in tribal areas because concepts such as capitalism and setting-up hypotheses are not part of our key values" Pan said.
"As long as the Aborigines are given a fair opportunity and room to pursue their career interests just like everyone else, [they can excel in any field]," Pan said.
"Personally I think there is really no need to be too keen on whether there are Aborigines in certain professions or specific careers."
