HK presents best of the best culinary awards

    Saturday, Nov 23, 2002, Page 20

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (Taipei Office) has invited winners of the "Best of the Best Culinary Awards" from Hong Kong to introduce their award-winning cuisine at the 2002 Taipei International Travel Fair on November 23. Visitors to the fair should not miss this opportunity to experience a taste of Hong Kong's best culinary award.

The "Best of the Best Culinary Awards," organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) identifies the finest examples of Hong Kong's classic and representative dishes and promotes Hong Kong as the "Culinary Capital of Asia."

As an important element of the City of Life: Hong Kong is it! tourism campaign, the competition highlights outstanding gourmet dining available in Hong Kong. It also aims at attracting more visitors to Hong Kong and creates business opportunities for the catering and tourism industries.

This year's competition comprised four classic dish categories, namely pork, fried rice, bean curd and lobster. 40 finalists were cooking up a feast in a two-day competition at the demonstration kitchen of the Chinese Cuisine Training Institute Hong Kong on Oct 16 and 17, and the top 10 dishes from each category were honored with distinction awards, gold awards and merit prizes.

As the HKTB is vigorously promoting Hong Kong as a "Gourmet Capital," the awards provide excellent support for this claim.

For inquires contact HKTB Taipei on 9F, 18 Changan East Road, Sec. 1, Taipei, tel (02) 2100-1866 or visit www.DiscoverHongKong.com. For brochures, attach NT$20 postage stamp and send to PO Box Taipei 46-767.
