The final weekend of the regular season is set begin this afternoon, with top-ranked Pure Youth Construction taking on Bank of Taiwan with the tip-off scheduled for 5pm at the Taipei Municipal Gymnasium.
Having already qualified for the post-season as the top-seeded team, the Builders are more likely to play their reserve players.
This will give them a chance to not only rest their starters, but experiment with different players in case they need them in the playoffs.
BATTLE OF PRIDE
In the second game in Taipei this evening, the playoff-bound Yulon Luxgens are to face Taiwan Beer in a battle of pride for the men in the green as they get set for the offseason, which follows a disappointing regular season that will end with less than 10 wins.
It will be only the second time in the league’s 10-year history that the Brew Crew will be watching the playoffs from the comfort of the stands.
Even though skipper Liu Jia-fa had already prepared his team, and the rest of Taiwan, for what many would call a “down year” for the three-time champs, it would be naive to think that the giant beer maker will reach into its deep pockets in the upcoming offseason and ink some impact players in an effort to return to the glory days.
