Bank of Taiwan outscored Taiwan Beer by a 24-16 margin in the final quarter to run away with a 68-63 win at the National Taiwan University of Physical Education and Sport Gymnasium in Taichung last night, opening the third week of play with a bang.

Joseph Taylor picked up the scoring slack vacated by an injured Hsu Chih-chiang, who left the game in the second quarter with a left-knee injury, by scoring a team-high 21 points and holding the Brew Crew’s Byron Allen to a season-low 10 points.

Bank of Taiwan opened the game with a surprising 22-point first quarter to lead the Brew Crew by nine after 13 combined points by Taylor and three-point threat Chen Hsuan-shiang.

Bank of Taiwan then added to their lead by two with a solid second quarter to enjoy a 37-26 lead at the half.

Things took a terrible turn south for the Financial Wizards as the Brew Crew held them to three points over the first seven minutes of the third quarter. By the end of the third quarter, Taiwan Beer not only erased the halftime deficit, but took a 47-44 lead.

Fortunately for the Bankers, point man Chien Ming-fu was able to rise to the occasion by scoring five of his team’s next seven points to help the Bankers reclaim a 51-49 lead.

Tso Tsong-kai netted a game-high 23 points for Taiwan Beer with a strong second half. However, that was not nearly enough as the men in green fell short.
