Frank Vatrano scored three goals for his first career hat-trick and Patrice Bergeron scored twice as the Boston Bruins beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-2 on Friday night to sweep the teams’ home-and-away series.
Loui Eriksson also scored for Boston, who are 4-0-1 in their past five games and 10-1-3 in their past 14 games. Ryan Spooner added three assists and Brad Marchand added two.
Conor Sheary got his first two NHL points with a goal and an assist, while Trevor Daley scored his first goal with the Penguins, who are 0-3 since Mike Sullivan replaced Mike Johnston as the team’s head coach.

Overall, Pittsburgh have lost four in a row (0-3-1) and six of their past seven to sit 12th in the Eastern Conference.

CAPITALS 5, LIGHTNING 3
Alex Ovechkin and T.J. Oshie both finished with two goals and two assists, while Marcus Johansson got the tiebreaking goal with 5 minutes, 44 seconds left to help Washington rally from three goals down and beat Tampa Bay.
The Capitals now have won four straight games overall and seven straight at home. They fell behind 3-0 midway through the second period, but scored the game’s final five goals, including four in the third period.
Johansson broke a 3-3 tie on his power-play goal from the right side after a pass from Oshie. Ovechkin also got an assist.
Ovechkin scored the team’s other two power-play goals. Oshie added an empty-net goal. Nicklas Backstrom earned his 600th career point with an assist on the final Oshie goal.
Alex Killorn, Andrej Sustr and Steven Stamkos each scored once for Tampa Bay.
SENATORS 4, SHARKS 2
Bobby Ryan had a goal and an assist, while Craig Anderson made 31 saves as Ottawa got their fourth straight home win.
Ottawa have won just two of their past five games. Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Chris Wideman and Erik Karlsson also scored.
Joe Thornton and Brent Burns had the goals for the Sharks, while Alex Stalock made 31 saves.
Pageau started and finished the play that gave the Senators a 2-1 lead 8 minutes, 22 seconds into the third period. After Pageau’s faceoff win, Cody Ceci took a shot before Dave Dziurzynski fired the rebound back at net. Stalock got a piece of Dziurzynski’s shot, but left the rebound right on the goal line for Pageau to poke in.
Wideman got the eventual winner and Karlsson provided some insurance with goals later in the period.
